Lelobooks celebrates women’s Day with the women icon of India, Shobhaa De

Shobhaa De, the icon figure needs a special mention! A former author, journalist, editor and a high-flying socialite (just like the female protagonists in many of her novels). The style of her writing is erotic, evocative and thought provoking, which is her signature style. She writes with ferocious approach and is not restricted to the bounds of literary decorum and norms. Today, she is a prominent author of many bestselling novels, popular columnist and designer, also renders her pen to some of the popular TV serials like Kitty Party, Swabhimaan and many more. A role model for many women who dream to be like her and enjoy this fascination from all across the globe, Shobhaa De is referred to as the Jackie Collins of India.
Born in a Maharashtrian Goud Saraswat Brahmin family began her career in journalism I 1970, Shobhaa De was a source of inspiration for women and was known to be the first Indian female erotic writer. With her chick-lit and erotic literature, she has presented different facets of women, portraying her sensuality, beauty and convincing power which can drive a man crazy. Shobhaa De, today at an age of 60 was featured on the 2010 list of ‘India’s 50 Most Beautiful’ in Hi Blitz. Always in the limelight of being candid and cynical about others, has put her thoughts and contributed to the India society with her literary works. Here below, I am going to throw mention some of her works which I personally found very interesting and enabled me to read.
“Ms De shocks India and much of its literary set like no other writer today.” - New York Times
SISTERS :
sistersThe novel shows a contrast of rivalry and emotional bond at the same time between the two half sisters (Malika and Alisha). The story revolves around the two daughters of a renowned businessman, one being legitimate and the other being illegitimate. The tale throws light on the dark side of Mumbai, where wheeling and dealing is practiced in order to go ahead of each other by these two sisters. Unexpectedly and sadly, the novel do not live up to the expectations of the readers. It portrays a seamier side of the high society. The story is similar to that of many soap operas. The novel will surely take you to a mindless expedition, which will actually make you read chapter after chapter. A strictly time pass novel tells about the apparent lifestyle of the riches.
SPOUSE :
Spouse-The-Truth-About-MarriageHe novel is an anecdote of the institution of marriage. It tells the tactics of making marriage to work and the reasons for its failure. Shobhaa De states, “Marriage is an adventure”. It deals with trust, companionship, affection, caring and sharing. De has incorporated and tries to share her conjugal life giving her personal point of view on the ideal code of conduct and how to cope with each other mood in the institution of marriage. Also, it emphasizes on all the issues Indian marriages like the saas bahu conundrum, importance of romance, balancing act between children and parents and the need of honesty. The book is a must read, displaying the pragmatic aspect of marriage.
SURVIVING MEN :
surviving menThe novel throws light upon the Indian men and all that what should be known by women about them. The novel question as well answers about men like: Are men worth the time women spend on them? Are men any good in bed? Do men have real feelings? What are men most anxious about? Is it possible to actually love a man? What do men like about women? What do women like about men? How does a woman train a man? Can men and women ever be friends? What are the most hateful things about men? A straight forward and controversial, stated in a witty and wise manner. Truly a compelling read!
Shobha De, an icon for every other women out there inspires with his thoughts and works; and has done a tremendous job by starting her career in writing and displaying the dark side of the high societies. Even though, the initial novel by her did not live up to the expectation, yet has done a great job in not giving up and continued writing. Well done! Great Job by the bold lady of India!

Literary allusions of Chetan Bhagat

Chetan Bhagat, crowned with the bestselling author in the league of great authors and has created a benchmark in the history of India. The author, columnist and speaker is remarked as “the biggest selling English language novelist in India's history”, by The New York Times and also possesses five bestselling novels to his credit and some of which has been adapted by the Bollywood industry and enjoyed runaway success. Crowned with many sobriquets, "100 Most Influential People in the world" by Time Magazine and "100 most creative people in business" by Fast Company, USA, “the Youth Icon of India”, Chetan Bhagat is a product of IIT Delhi and IIM Ahmadabad. In all the novels, Chetan has thrown light upon the practical details of the life and has brought his outlook towards life on pen and paper in simple and comprehensible English. Chetan understands the psyche of Young blood of India and through his writing; he is seen as the face of the progressive youth of the country. Now, let me give you a brief review about his poise and practicality in his writings with his works.
Revolution 2020
The tagline of the mentioned novel itself states what all can be expected out of it; Revolution 2020: Love, Corruption, Ambition. However, in his interview Chetan has brushed off to this assumption and made the readers clear about his book, stating that it a love triangle, keeping India education as its backdrop. The novel has three protagonists Gopal, Raghav and Aarti, making the three corners of this mentioned love triangle in the story. The names of the protagonists simply dictate the genders which further give a hint that these two are desperate to with the girl. The novel gives a reflection of any Bollywood flick but in its in depth, Revolution 2020 novel unearths the two characters that are encountered with India political system, both striving hard to attain love, fame and success. The only common thread in their lives is Aarti, their love. Want to know what happens at the end? Who gets the lady of his life? Read this fascinating tale from one of India’s most celebrated story tellers. Now buy Revolution 2020 through an online bookstore in India.
2 states
The title itself gives a clue about the novel but also leaves you thinking about its storyline. The novel is an utter love story of a boy from North and girl from South, an entertaining and easy read. The climax is the most interesting part where a love affair converts into marriage, which seems no less than a battle won. The novel cam way before the start of Chennai Express as like the movie, the story opens up when this Punjabi boy Krish Arora meets Tamilian girl Ananya Swaminanthan in IIMA mess, the place where they study together. The story follows in the journey of convincing their parents. The relationship is jeopardized with ethnic disconnect. The novel is a compelling-read with a humorous tone.
3 mistakes of my life
Like the other novel of Chetan Bhagat, this novel also enjoyed high appreciation with its feature of readability. This novel arrived in late 2000, the story recounts the life of three friends; Omi, Ishaan and Govind. The story starts with a prologue in which one of the three protagonists Govind sends a suicidal email to the author and the author all the way from Singapore comes to see him and lend an ear to him. The story is about how these three youths manage to make their survival in Ahmedabad. The story highlights Govind’s acumen in business and Ishaan’s love for cricket which led them to open up a shop with the assistance of Omi’s family. The story is about how they survive with limited riches and capabilities and in the course of their survival they encounter all religious politics, earthquakes, riots, unacceptable love along with their own wrong deeds of the past. Will they make it happen? Can an individual’s dreams triumph over the nightmares presented to him in his real life? Can an individual thrive despite making a few mistakes in his life?
5 point someone
This is the first novel by Chetan Bhagat, published in 2004. The novel is a story of three friends in IIT, struggling hard to score the highest grade and ends up in vain. The book opens up with a disclaimer stating, “This is not a book to teach you how to get into IIT or even how to live in college. In fact, it describes how screwed up things can get if you don't think straight." The story revolves around the protagonist Hari and his 2 friends Alok and Ryan, struggling hard to bring up their GDP with a weird outlook towards life and big time they realize that they are at the lowest echelons of IIT society. With the turning of the pages, you will come to see the darker side of the life of IITians. The story talks about the three friends and their family backgrounds and what their family expects from them being IITians. Chetan by employing simple English has thrown light on the education system in India. Will they make it? Do under performers have a right to live? Can they show that they are not just a five-point-somebody but a five-point-someone? Place an online order now for your book.
one night at the call cener
The novel revolves around the six employees, working in call center named Connexions in Gurgaon, Haryana. The story opens up with a train journey from Kanpur to Delhi and the author meets a girl who promises to tell him her story on the condition, if he will make it as his second book. The novel is all crammed with loads of drama, the outcome of troublesome things happening to the mentioned characters. The story takes a dramatic twist and turn when God Himself calls them up. The novel has been adapted into a movie called Hello. This is yet another witty dark novel by Chetan Bhagat. Are you ready to take a call from God? So just grab your book and get ready to have mystifying experiences in the journey of the book.
Chetan Bhagat, referred as the “Youth Icon of India” is a popular Indian author who has been seen as the face of the progressive youth of India. Through his literary works, the author has thrown light on the social facets like the desire to have materialistic gains in the new and young India. In my conclusion over Chetan’s works, I would say that this writer has fire and streak to bring about changes in society with his write ups and has writer his books in reference of the psyche of India Youth.

Making New Year resolutions is a common phenomenon and this ritual has been coming since ages as we all decide and make some resolutions to achieve in the new time, which we have always thought about but could attain, due to lack of time luxury or some other reason. This write up is basically for the book lovers and book aficionados like me, who always think of reading their favorite books but with the shortage of time have always fallen short of accomplishing our resolutions. While having a little chit chat with my friends over this topic, I realized that those resolutions which I made for the year 2013 should have been achieved in 2011 only as were planned long time before in the year 2011. As you can see I am not good at New Year resolutions, but just a second…I want to ask that who in the world is good at it? May be just 1% of the total population! There, I am feeling relaxed that I am the part of the 99% of the population, so called “Aam Aadmi” , who is too busy to take time for their New Year resolutions. However, with my regular ritual, with the arrival of 2014 I have again decided few things to be accomplished in this New Year.

What Would Your Life be Like if Anything Were Possible?

Born without arms or legs, Nick Vujicic overcame his disabilities to live an independent, rich, fulfilling, and ridiculously good life while serving as a role model for anyone seeking true happiness. FIFTY SHADES TRILOGY

Fifty shades Trilogy

A very popular series of the erotic romance genre, Fifty Shades charts the relationship between a strappy young college graduate, Anastasia Steele and a dynamic business magnate, Christian Grey.

Summary Of The Book

Anastasia Steele is a 21-year-old senior at college studying literature where she meets her best friend, Kate Kavanagh. Kate writes for the campus newspaper and when she falls sick, she persuades Ana to go in her place for the interview. The person who she needs to interview is 27-year-old Christian Grey, an exceptionally successful entrepreneur cum magnate. And this is how the star crossed lovers meet for the first time.
As she encounters Christian Grey in person she is impressed and attracted to the intimidating persona. As she dismissed her fantasies due to her own inadequacies, Christian soon surprises her when he saves her life and they embark on a journey of erotic adventure and ultimately love. The searing love affair spans across the three books.

In Fifty Shades Darker, Anastasia is pulled back into the relationship from which she had left due to Christian’s need for a dominant/submissive relationship. This contract implicates Ana into an erotic relationship that does not allow for any romance or love. She can’t resist him however when he suggests a new agreement and quickly they resume their passionate affair. This time around, Ana learns more about his past and is caught in a series of dangerous events due to her involvement with Christian. The relationship is tested more as they reveal themselves to each other, resulting in a number of intimate and tender moments
.
The last book in the series, Fifty Shades Freed is the final leg in their journey where both Christian and Ana find themselves enfolded in a series of encounters that neither could have anticipated. With the daunting task of loving Christian in all his shades, she also has to straddle events threatening her close circle of friends.
The Fifty Shades Trilogy has sold more than 70 million copies worldwide. Number one on USA Today’s bestselling list for 20 weeks in a row, it is an unprecedented success that first started out with a virtual launch by The Writer’s Coffee Shop.
