“It seemed I did love trouble - at least of a certain kind.”
The book incorporates the elements of a crime thriller with those of chick lit that can be gobbled up in a single night. Dead in a minute is a book which will bring you together a gorgeous protagonist working as a private eye, a Bollywood A-list star and a murder. In addition to it, she has this mysterious handsome boss and Voila.
The book is a sequel of the author’s previous book The Masal Murder and Madhumita has again come up with the kickass detective, Reema Ray who has problem with the bank - and just about everything is different. A new metropolis, a new occupation, a new wardrobe and a new oven. And most prominently, a new, dreadfully breathtaking massacre investigation. As I know the name of the main character, yet I do not know the entire story a I have just heard about his previous coffeetable but have not read it. So, initially I was scared that if I would not understand her latest book with details, but before buying it, I got to know that the story in this book is different and has the main characters and a few references same as that in The Masala Murder. There is no connection between the stories of these two books.
Dead in a Mumbai minute has secret eye Reema Ray getting settled in her new job at India’s best safety solutions company — Titanium. However, before she could finish her first given project, her boss — Shayak Gupta — the owner of Titanium, asks her to work on a murder mystery which has taken place on a private island, which belongs to the Bollywood star Kimaaya Kapoor and the victim turns out to be Kapoor’s ex-assistant Ashutosh Dhingre. Soon enough, Reema realizes that it is not only the first incident that has taken place on the island but there has been many more. The incident which has currently taken place on the island I actually a part of a bigger conspiracy — a scheme that has Shayak involved in it completely. Reema now has to race against time to save his boss, Shayak.
Madhumita has sketched the protagonists so well that I personally was touched by her authenticity. The author compels you to cheer for Reema when she is in hot pursuit of the killer. The editing has been done so well that the grammar snobs (like me) would not have a chance to find faults.
The setting of the crime is Kimaaya’s private island. Read this book to find out who is the criminal - the suspects – her house guests, and Kimaaya herself!
Through the process of investigation, Reema learns of Kimaaya’s prior relationship with Shayak, and can’t help but think it is a clash of concern. What will puzzle you more is Shayak’s repeated absence. And what of the ongoing attraction cooking between her and her enigmatic boss?
Despite the high-tech facilities at Titanium, Reema is soon back to her own gadgets – which sometimes involves cooking up something for a spot of culinary meditation – to get to the underside of a misdemeanor that points to a profound and threatening plot.
The novel is in bits and pieces with the elements like chick-lit and crime thriller - baking for lucidity of mind, wearing killer LBDs, and every single hottie, including her boss, asking Reema out for dinner.
So, guys if you are looking for a straightforward, fast-paced thriller, you will be delighted with Dead in a Mumbai minute. But, it would be a bit better if you read A Masala Murder before reading it. After reading this book, I believe that Madhumita is looking forward for a trilogy or a series with Reema Ray, as I have found no end in the story in this yet another novel by Madhumita.
Enjoy a face-paced thriller this weekend by getting this book through online book shopping as buying books online is time saving as well as money-saving technique. Available at lelobooks!
